The days are getting shorter and there’s a crispness in the air—fall is here, along with seasonal events like harvest festivals, Oktoberfest, and Halloween fun. Celebrate the season in Shakopee and mark your calendar with this roundup of fall events.

Minnesota Renaissance Festival

Weekends through October 2, 2022, plus Monday, September 5 and Friday, September 30

Live jousting, costumed performers, an artisan marketplace, tasty eats: take a trip into the past at the country’s largest Renaissance festival. The family-friendly event also offers free kids crafts, a petting zoo with exotic animals, Princess Court, and Fairy Wing Forest.

Upcoming theme weekends include Wine, Chocolate, & Romance (September 3-5), Woofstock (September 10-11), Middle Eastern Bazaar (September 17-18), Shamrocks & Shenanigans (September 24-25), and Oktoberfest (October 1-2). Schedules of special events for each themed weekend will be available online.

Sever’s Fall Festival

Weekends September 17-October 30, 2022, plus Thursday, October 20 and Friday, October 21

With one of Minnesota’s largest corn mazes, an extreme corn pit, and plenty of pumpkins, Sever’s Fall Festival offers classic autumn fun. In addition to family activities like the corn maze, corn pit, and petting zoo, admission includes a wildlife show, live music, and performances. There are also attractions available for a small additional fee, such as pony rides, a giant slide, pumpkin blasters, and hayrides. Save room for tasty fall treats from local vendors, like apple fritters, roasted corn, and caramel apples.

Shaktoberfest

Seasonal craft beers, a 5K run, games, live music, barbecue, tacos—celebrate Oktoberfest Badger Hill Brewing-style at the annual Shaktoberfest. Commemorative Oktoberfest steins will be available for purchase, and attendees can be among the first to sample the new Banana Stand Hefeweizen.

Junk Bonanza

September 22-24, 2022

Whether your style is classic, boho, industrial, modern farmhouse, or mid-century, you’re sure to find something unique at Junk Bonanza. Held at Canterbury Park, the event will feature over 150 vendors offering vintage home decor, garden items, and more. The indoor event will be held rain or shine, and will also include a market with handcrafted goods from local artisans, demos, and giveaways.

Tricks and Treats at Valleyfair

Celebrate all things sweet and spooky at Valleyfair’s brand-new Halloween celebration. The family-friendly event will feature live entertainment, carnival games, harvest festival activities, and trick-or-treating. Sample sweet and savory fall treats and seasonal adult beverages, and get some mild and wild thrills on Valleyfair’s all-ages and thrill rides.
