1) Snowmobiling & Snocross

The Shakopee area has some amazing options for the snowmobile enthusiast, check out amazing trails in the Minnesota Valley Region and Scott County to the Snocross National at Canterbury Park.

Shakopee and Scott County have a vast number of trails for any snowmobiler to enjoy. Take in the natural beauty of the Minnesota State Recreation area or wind through the trail system to great attractions like Mystic Lake, or local dining options.

Championship Snocross returns to Canterbury Park January 5-6. The Pirtek Snocross National features some of the top snowmobile riders in the country. Get your tickets now to catch them as they perform high-flying stunts and exciting racing.

2) Live Standup Comedy

The Shakopee area showcases some of the best National comedy acts around. See local top comedic acts at an intimate setting at Dangerfield’s Comedy Club, or head over to spectacular Mystic Lake Casino for a night of laughs and more. Upcoming performers include Dane Cook, Greg Fitzsimmons, Larry Reeb, Rob Neville, Jamie Blanchard, and Adrian Cosby.

3) Wakiyan Hinhahan Dog Derby

The Wakiyan Hinhan Dog Derby is a two-day dog sled race taking place January 20-21 and will run through the Shakopee Mdewakaton Sioux Community reservation lands. Spectators will be able to watch the race most of the way through. In addition, there will be a large, heated vendor tent near the start/finish line for people to warm up.

4) Concerts & Events at Mystic Lake

There is always something happening at the Midwest’s Largest Casino, Mystic Lake. Come out and enjoy one of the great concerts in their spectacular Mystic Showroom. Upcoming performers include Buddy Guy, Morris Day and the Time, G. Love & Special Sauce, Bleachers, and The Commodores.

During Super Bowl week, the world-famous Club NOMADIC will be at Mystic Lake Casino! This epicenter of entertainment will be bringing four days of amazing performances to Mystic Lake from February 1-4. Some of the performances include The Chainsmokers, Ellie Goulding & Kygo, and Florida Georgia Line!

5) Extreme Events MN Skijoring

Come out and enjoy some Extreme Skijoring at Canterbury Park on February 17. As a refresher, extreme skijoring is a person on a horse pulling a skier by rope thought a track with jumps and obstacles.

Or, head to Clearly Lake Regional Park in nearby Prior Lake for a different taker on skijoring. At Clearly Lake, people can let their dog get out some pent-up energy while pulling them on cross-country skis.

6) Dinner and a Show at Chanhassen Dinner Theatres

Nearby Chanhassen welcomes you for dinner and show at one of the country’s largest dinner theatres, Chanhassen Dinner Theatres. Sister Act is playing now through February 24 on the main stage. Or, come out and see some of the finest musicians in Minnesota at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres Concert Series.

7) Brewery Events and Tours

Badger Hill Brewery and Shakopee BrewHall call Shakopee home. Both terrific breweries have great tap rooms for people to come out and enjoy their high-quality craft beers. There are also special events happening at the breweries including Bingo Night, Trivia Night, Yoga & Beer, Brewery Tours, and more!

8) MMA Fighting

See live MMA at Canterbury Park on Saturday, January 20! MECCA XI MMA & Muay Thai will feature 25 action-packed fights, including Thai Boxing. The card features:

9) State Pool & Dart Tournament

Also at Canterbury Park is the 33rd Minnesota Operators of Music and Amusements (MOMA) State Pool and Dart Tournament. Come out and play against or watch people compete for over $10,000 in prizes. Some of the tournaments taking place include 9-Ball Singles, Scot Doubles 8-Ball, 501 Doubles for darts, and more!

10) Visit Paisley Park

Paisley Park in nearby Chanhassen offers the unprecedented opportunity to tour the 65,000-square foot complex that served as the music legend Prince’s home and music studio. Guided tours take visitors throughout the extensive main floor, including the studios where Prince recorded most of his biggest hits. Also see exhibit spaces that which chronicle Prince’s films, Prince’s private NPG Music Club, and the massive sound stage and concert hall where Prince held exclusive, private events, and concerts.

11) Outdoor Fun in the MN State Recreation Area

A beautiful view of nature in winter awaits you on the Minnesota Valley State Trail, which runs parallel with the Minnesota River. There are many miles of scenic trail from Shakopee to Chaska all the way to Belle Plaine. Some of the winter activities you can take advantage of through this recreation area include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and even bird watching!
