Experience the Great Outdoors
After a long winter of being cooped up indoors, spring fever has everyone ready to bust out of the house. These are our 3 favorite ways to spend the season outdoors:
Valleyfair: How could you pass up an opportunity to visit the largest amusement park in the Upper Midwest? Be sure not to miss out on the fun as this treasured park enters its 41st Season, beginning May 12. You can plan your spring trip early to get the best deals at Valleyfair.
New for 2017:
North Star – named to celebrate the region’s affinity to being “up north” and the great outdoors – is a 230-foot-tall tower that will spin riders more than 20 stories above the ground. Seated in two-person chain-link swings that will allow their feet to dangle, riders will slowly begin rotating in a circular motion reaching speeds of up to 40 mph as the swings ascend and descend the tower.
Minnesota Zoo: Since mid-February, the Minnesota Zoo has hosted a tropical beach party exhibit, featuring a gigantic indoor sandbox and hundreds of animals to see. And beginning March 24, the Farm Babies exhibit returns! Bring the whole family out to see adorable chicks, piglets, lambs, calves, ducklings, goat kids, and bunnies. There will also be hands-on kids’ activities throughout the event.
Canterbury Park: May 5th marks the opening of one of Shakopee’s classic traditions: Canterbury Park’s horse racing track! The season spans from late May all the way to mid-September, but you don’t want to miss the stunning spring weather at the start of the live racing season.
Splendid Shopping
Early spring is the perfect time to begin your hunt for the perfect seasonal wardrobe. And if you are looking for the best shopping venues in the Midwest, look no further than the Minneapolis & Saint Paul Metro.
Mall of America: For anyone visiting the Midwest, the Mall of America is a must-see. In addition to being the largest mall in the United States, it is also one of the most visited tourist attractions in the entire world. With 520 stores, over 50 restaurants, and 400 free events each year, it’s no wonder the Mall of America is such a huge hit.
Outdoor Shopping: If you’d rather spend your shopping time outdoors, there are plenty of venues to choose from. You will find the best deals in the region on high-quality designer fashion at Twin Cities Premium Outlets. And the historic downtown district of Shakopee is located right along the Minnesota Riverfront featuring great local shops, boutiques and restaurants. You’ll also be supporting the community by shopping, dining, and experiencing entertainment locally!
Though it is still early spring, there is plenty of time to plan your adventures for the warmer weather to come. Between the picturesque neighborhoods and vast recreational resources in the region, you won’t want to miss the change of seasons in Shakopee this year.
