Where to Find Mexican Food in Shakopee

Shakopee is home to a wealth of Mexican restaurants, ranging from full-service spots to convenient quick bites.  Here’s your guide for Cinco de Mayo, Taco Tuesday, or whenever you’re in the mood for fresh, flavorful Mexican cuisine.

Mexican Restaurants

Bravi’s Craft Mexican Kitchen

The eclectic menu at Bravi’s includes everything from ceviche to ribeye served with tortillas, rice, and all the fixings.  The most photogenic choice might be the pineapple bowl, a pineapple half heaped with rice, vegetables, and your choice of meat.   Bravi’s is adjacent to Badger Hill Brewing, which frequently hosts live music and other events—grab some takeout and head next door if you prefer a taproom atmosphere.

Pablo’s Mexican Restaurant

A Shakopee standby since 1986, this second generation family-owned restaurant serves up California-style Mexican cuisine, including guacamole, fajitas, tacos, and burritos.  Check out the special seafood features on Friday and Saturday, like shrimp and crab-filled quesadillas.  Pablo’s also offers a lunch menu, happy hour drink specials, and a dedicated gluten-free menu.

El Fogon Brunch & Burgers

This counter-service spot offers a tasty lineup of tacos, grilled chicken, Mexican-style burgers, and more.  Flavor your meal to your preference with the variety of tasty salsas from the self-serve salsa bar.  A kid’s menu is available, and several items can be made vegetarian by opting for the nopales con queso (cactus with cheese) or fajita vegetable filling.

Don Ramon Restaurante Mexicano

With a wide-ranging menu including nachos, street tacos, enchiladas, steaks, and seafood dishes, the challenge at Don Ramon is deciding what to try first.  The birria is a house specialty, making an appearance in tortas, burritos, stuffed into cheesy quesadillas, and piled onto loaded fries.

Mister Taco Mexican Street Food

Despite the moniker, Mister Taco offers much more than tacos, with comforting options like chiles rellenos, taquitos, and chilaquiles, based on traditional Mexican recipes.  One of the most unique items on the menu is the pizza birria, made by sandwiching shredded beef and mozzarella cheese between two large tortillas, with a side of consomme for dipping.

El Huarache Mexicano

As the name suggests, the house specialty is the huarache, or an oblong piece of fried masa dough topped with your choice of meat.  Other dishes on the menu include sopes, quesadillas, tortas, burritos, and tacos.

Delicias Del Viejo

Stop by Delicious Del Viejo for satisfying Mexican snacks.  Savory options include walking tacos and elote and esquites, which combine sweet corn, mayo, lime juice, and queso fresco.  On the sweet side of the menu, there’s ice cream, mini pancakes, popsicles, and mangonada, a spicy frozen mango treat.
