Shakopee Social District

Shakopee’s brand-new social district keeps the patio vibes going throughout downtown and around Canterbury Park!  Here’s your guide to open-air sipping and socializing.

How it works

The Shakopee Social District encompasses two distinct areas: the city’s historic downtown and the recently developed Canterbury area.  Keep an eye out for the blue “Sold Here” signs, which indicate the participating bars, restaurants, and taprooms where you can buy a drink to go in an official compostable social district cup.  Drinks vary by business and may include beer, wine, and spirits.

Once you’ve obtained your beverage, take a walk, hang out on a plaza, or browse a retail shop that allows drinks (look for the green “Drinks Welcome” and red “No Drinks Permitted” signs).  Remember to stick to the social district boundaries, which are marked with official signage.  Finish your drink before entering another bar or restaurant, and be sure to dispose of your cup in a provided trash container.  Refilling your cup with your own alcohol is prohibited.

The Shakopee Social District is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. through October 31, 2025.  There will also be special holiday hours from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. December 6-7, 2025 to coincide with Holiday Fest, Shakopee’s annual kick off to the holiday season.

Most importantly, have fun exploring downtown Shakopee and the Canterbury area with a drink in hand!
