Fun for the Whole Family at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival
The Minnesota Renaissance Festival is celebrating its 51st season! The country’s largest Renaissance Festival features live jousting, street performers, an artisan marketplace with over 250 vendors, tasty eats, family-friendly activities, and more.
The festival is held weekends August 20-October 2, 2022, plus Monday, September 5 and Friday, September 30, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. rain or shine. The festival grounds in Shakopee, Minnesota offer free parking as well as mass transit options.
Tickets can be purchased online, and are $23.95 for adults and $15.50 for children (ages 5-12) in advance, or $26.95 for adults and $17.95 for children at the gate. Renaissance Festival fans can save with season passes, weekend passes, and a family 4-pack.
What’s new
In addition to favorites from previous years, the 2022 Renaissance Festival will feature exciting new entertainment, food and beverage, and events!
This year’s festival will have several new entertainment options, including the Queen’s Gambit: A Royal Chess Match, the Royal Raptor Center, the Sock & Buskin Stage, Shakespeare Shorts, and the Wizard’s Cote.
New food and beverage vendors include the Vikings Valhalla Mead Hall, Monks Craft Beer Pub, and CrosSwords Tavern.
New daily events include a “Wine Wake” and Bloody Mary bingo.

Each weekend at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival has a unique theme, with special activities, events, contests, vendors, and more.
August 20-21, 2022: Once Upon a Time
Kick off the 2022 Minnesota Renaissance Festival with a weekend celebrating fairy tales and fantasy.
August 27-28, 2022: Highland Fling
Cheer on the athletes in the Highland Games, or try your skill in the Scotch egg eating competition, keg toss, or kilt competition.
September 3-5, 2022: Wine, Chocolate, & Romance
Satiate your sweet tooth at the chocolate pie eating contest, renew your vows, and sip some wine.
September 10-11, 2022: Woofstock
This weekend is for the dogs, with pet activities, contests, and training demos.
September 17-18, 2022: Middle Eastern Bazaar
Browse the world market and watch the Minnesota State Belly Dance Championship.
September 24-25, 2022: Shamrocks & Shenanigans
Visit the Celtic Village for local Irish vendors, enjoy traditional Irish music and dancing, cheer on the contestants in the mashed potato eating contest, and join the kilt competition.
September 30, 2022: Festival Friday
School groups and home school students can enjoy discounted tickets, craft demonstrations and educational activities. For grownups, it’s Ladies & Lords Shopping Day.
October 1-2, 2022: Oktoberfest
Check out the Bavarian Village and dachshund races, or enter the lederhosen and dirndl costume contest.

Race around the Renaissance Festival grounds, beginning at the front gate entrance. Adult registration is $40 and includes free admission to the Renaissance Festival on the day of the race, a t-shirt, a Red Bull, and a voucher for a turkey leg. Child registration is $20 and includes free admission, a t-shirt and turkey leg voucher.
The Feast of Fantasy is a two-hour comedy show that includes free festival admission, a six-course meal, and a mug. Be sure to book now, since limited seats remain.
